The next International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is already in the works for 2010. The organization which puts on what is billed as the world’s largest technology trade show put out its Call for Speakers with a list of topics planned for the event to be held, again, in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 7-10. If electronics is your business or your hobby, this is the place to be, whether you are a renowned speaker, an industry insider, or a consumer (if you can get in). With the industry moving so quickly, deciding on a focus for the next show can’t be easy. However, here are some of the hot topics that will be highlighted. Netbooks, will be a focus of course. Are they just a fad or will they become a mainstay of the weary traveler? Television has become much more than a talking box. Internet TV is the innovation that will get a lot of play from wireless to 3D sessions. A scheduled session on 4G may be old news by January 2010, with smart phones being replaced by “superphones.” Other sessions will cover music, new social network horizons, digital imaging, previously known as photography, more about GPS, and how to power all these devices. With over 2,200 members in the Consumer Electronics Association to draw from, the information and products that will be presented at the show make it a must for any technology buff. Speakers are carefully screened for professionalism, prior public presentation success, and how well they represent they industry. Thankfully, sales pitches are not allowed, but you’ll see and hear enough to know how to spend your money after you leave the showroom floor. CES has more than 200 conference sessions planned for the four day show. You have to pick and choose like a kid in a candy shop to restrict yourself to the approximately 30 sessions you’ll strategically be able to attend. They expect manufacturers, retailers, analysts, developers, and media from 130 countries to attend. If you want a sneak peek at what’s coming up, you can plan a gaunt over to Qingdao, China for SINOCES, the Chinese venue for CES in the Asian-Pacific. It runs from July 9 – 12 this year. |
