Forward Thinking Organization Shows Environmental Responsibility; Cuts Operational Costs

BURLINGAME, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/11/08 -- Planet Metrics, a CarbonInformation Management (CIM) company, and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA),producer of the International CES, the world's largest consumer technologytradeshow, today announced a partnership to measure and analyze the amountof carbon and other greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted as a result of 2009International CES in Las Vegas to be held January 8-11.

See today's related press release, "Planet Metrics Enters CarbonInformation Management Market; Helps Customers Reduce Carbon and IncreaseProfit," which announces the official launch of Planet Metrics and theclose of $2.3 million in Series A funding from angel investors and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Planet Metricsprovides streamlined carbon modeling and visualization software forcustomers taking steps to reduce carbon emissions. "Having the ability tomeasure and track performance through time will enable CEA to understandthe reality of actual carbon output, set reduction targets, effectivelyreducing the environmental impact of the show," said Andy Leventhal, CEOand co-founder of Planet Metrics.

Planet Metrics has been working with CEA for several months to collectinformation, calculate models, and analyze the carbon footprint of theInternational CES, North America's largest annual tradeshow and the world'slargest consumer technology tradeshow, which draws more than 130,000attendees each year. Planet Metrics is working with CEA and its associatedsuppliers to collect necessary data to model the GHG emissions associatedwith CES' operations and activities including transportation, electricity, fuel usage and hotel room stays. Using Planet Metrics' RCM software, modelshave been developed to help identify the largest and most intensiveemissions of CES operations and activities. CEA will employ asustainability strategy to include the immediate purchase of offsets aswell as making smarter decisions in the future to lower the emissions fromthe start. "Using the carbon data model we built for CEA, not only willthey identify environmental benefits but they will also understand thefinancial impact of how volatile energy and resource prices will reduce thecarbon footprint of CES into the future," noted Leventhal.

Parker Brugge, Vice President of environmental affairs and industrysustainability for CEA, commented, "The greening of the International CESreflects the consumer electronics industry's commitment to environmentallysustainable practices. Attendees at the 2009 CES will witness the latestgreen technology innovations from among more than 2,700 exhibitors, and seehow the industry's largest event takes a leading role in understanding andpromoting pro-environment policies."

Planet Metrics offers Rapid Carbon Modeling solutions which model theimpact of carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. Employing a "systemsthinking" approach, Planet Metrics customers can develop and deployadvanced strategies that reduce the impact of harmful emissions fromnecessary business processes. Reducing harmful emissions improves businessefficiencies, which has a positive effect on operations, manufacturing, transportation, energy, waste, and supply chain that saves money whileimproving the planet's ecosystem.
