LAS VEGAS The Young Electric Sign Company is a featured exhibitor at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Nov. 18-20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Founded in Utah in 1920, Young opened its first Las Vegas office in 1945 and has become the city’s biggest sign maker. Its neon work can be seen all along the Strip, including the famous Welcome to Las Vegas Sign, a landmark for visitors and conventioneers alike.

The 1,600-employee firm’s other Vegas clients include Caesars Palace, Circus Circus, Hard Rock Hotel, New York New York and Wynn Las Vegas. But its largest project will be at the new Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

Just how much do the neon signs and their maintenance cost? A project can be priced anywhere from $100 to the millions, with neon attracting consumers much like a moth to the light.

When it comes to the importance of neon attracting conventioneers, Jeremy Handel, public relations specialist at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said that next to images of the Las Vegas skyline, the most requested images by groups are those of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign.
