LAS VEGAS – The exclusive Lake Las Vegas resort community in southeast Las Vegas was hit with yet another closure.
After the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas resort announced Feb. 8 that it would close in May, Casino MonteLago, the only casino located at the bankrupt Lake Las Vegas community, announced Feb. 16 that it will also be closing.
The casino’s last day will be March 14, when 177 employees will lose their jobs. About 350 Ritz-Carlton employees will be laid off in May.
Lake Las Vegas is situated about 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. There were three golf courses on site, but only one is still open. The community has 1,700 homes and condos.
Remaining open is the MonteLago Village, featuring shops and restaurants, and the Loews Lake Las Vegas, which sits on the opposite side of the lake from the Ritz-Carlton and Casino MonteLago. Loews said its bookings are ahead of those for 2009. It advertises itself as an outdoor adventure and corporate meeting site. |
