In its continuous bid to become a symbol of modernity and efficient energy use, a photovoltaic power generation plant has just been commissioned at Malaga’s Tradeshow and Congress Centre, a project in which the venue has been working for several months now with the aim of generating 150,000Kwh of clean energy a year. With this project, the first of its kind in an Andalusian congress centre, FYCMA is following the lead of other centres such as Fira Barcelona and Valencia Congress Centre, which are also pioneers in the field. Other similar projects in the province of Malaga include the 56Kwh solar panels that the Monte Malaga Hotel has installed on its façade. Five hundred and sixty-one 210W panels covering 1,800m2 have been installed in the congress centre’s loading and unloading area in such a way as to respect the building’s lines and aesthetics. This type of plant generates the energy equivalent to the average consumption of 71 homes, and therefore reduces C02 emissions in around 157 tons a year. With a total investment of 700,000 euros, the photovoltaic generation has a 10-year ROI.
