ATLANTA – The exhibition “Diana: A Celebration” chronicles the life of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. Opening Jan. 23 and running through June 13 at the Atlanta Civic Center, the exhibition honors “the people’s princess,” featuring 150 objects including designer dresses, jewels, family heirlooms, personal mementoes, paintings, rare home movies and photos.
“Diana: A Celebration” presents the life and work of one of the most remarkable women of our time, and certainly one of the most photographed, with over one billion television viewers watching her 1981 Royal Wedding. Her charm and beauty touched people worldwide during her short life.
The exhibition includes a series of 150 objects that chronicle Diana’s life and invite the visitor to share the milestones of her many roles: as a youngster, schoolgirl and athlete; as a shy kindergarten teacher; as a young royal bride; as a devoted mother; and as a tireless charity advocate and spokeswoman.
Also featured are portraits of her ancestors, family jewels, heirlooms, paintings, artifacts, video clips, letters and photos that provide historical context. The Royal Wedding gallery features her resplendent gown, diamond tiara, veil and 25-foot train, shoes and parasol.
